Joshua Klayman is Professor Emeritus of Behavioral Science at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1980. He is also a Professorial Fellow at the Melbourne Business School in Australia and a partner in
Humanly Possible®, Inc. Prof. Klayman is a leading researcher in the field of managerial judgment and decision making and has served as president of the leading research organization in that field. He is the author of numerous research publications focused on learning, judgment, and reasoning in individuals and organizations, with applications to organizational change, managerial decision making, planning, and problem solving. Prof. Klayman has taught MBA and executive courses in organizational change and innovation, managing in organizations, and managerial decision making.
Dr. Klayman had served as director of the Booth School of Business’ Decision Research Laboratory and as president of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making. He had also been a Visiting Professor of Technology Management at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
Dr. Klayman's research interests are in the area of learning, judgment, and reasoning in individuals and organizations, with applications to organizational change, managerial decision making, planning, and problem solving. He has published in numerous journals including
Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Review of Organizational Behavior, Psychology of Learning and Motivation, Journal of Experimental Psychology, and
Psychological Review.
Dr. Klayman earned his doctoral degree in developmental psychology from the University of Minnesota. He received an S.B. in psychology and social inquiry from M.I.T.
